Scholarships

Through the scholarships, Janelle's Wishing Well Foundation aims to help highly motivated, highly driven students enter the health care arena, and overcome one of the most challenging aspects of their post-high school career -- the cost of advanced education.

At the same time, providing them with the opportunity to raise awareness of the dangers of CO – “the Silent Killer”. Our best candidates are those who demostrate mental discipline, compassion, kindness and pursuit of academic excellent in fulfilling a career in health care.

Students apply for the Janelle Bertot H.O.S.A. Memorial Scholarship through their health studies classes. Candidates undergo an assessment by the Foundation's Board of Directors. The selection criteria includes academic achievement in all facets of studies, financial need, as well as a will to succeed in the area of healthcare studies, and a great emphasizes is given to their focus on community involvement/leadership activities.

The Janelle Bertot Memorial H.O.S.A. Scholarship

Janelle's Wishing Well Foundation has partnered with Janelle's High School (Western High School), Florida International University, as well as Phi Sigma Sigma, to provide scholarships to deserving students interested in health care, who share Janelle's desire of fostering community volunteerism.

The Janelle Bertot Memorial Scholarship Award Recipient

The first Janelle Bertot HOSA Memorial Scholarship Award was granted in June, 2005 to Chelsea Justice, a HOSA Student (Health Occupations Students of America) from Western High School (Janelle's High School.)
